I love this series and the characters, especially Sammy - she is spunky and smart, never lets her situation get her down. She really shines in this one, and everyone finally learns who her father is. The other series characters also have lots going on and changing in their lives, including Marissa, Heather, Grams, Hudson, and Lana, Sammy's mom. With this book almost everything changes, but Sammy remains true to herself. I can't wait for the next one!

Once again I was left laughing over and over as Sammy gets herself into another sticky situation. I could see Wendelin Van Draanen starting wrap up some loose ends and bring together some pieces of Sammy's story that have been waiting to be revealed. I am so sad to know the series is almost at an end.
This book presents a very exciting twist in the Sammy Keyes plot line. Filled with crazy encounters and heartwarming friendship, Showdown in Sin City leads Sammy to face the biggest mystery in her life who is her father?
I read it all in one sitting. I wasn't sure what to expect from the book, just that it'll leave you in tears from laughter, joy and sadness. Really is a fantastic book. Would recommend it to anyone but would tell them to start from the beginning of the series. It makes everything worth it.
If you are a Sammy Keyes fan, then you'll want to have this book. Sammy's adventures take a new twist as she has to rely on her wits in this installment.
Some of Van Draanen's recent books in this series have seemed a little watered down. In this book the stakes are high again and the narrative is fast-paced. Highly recommended.

You know, I don't review many books, even though I have tons and I love all of them! This one I just so... shocking! Heather and Sammy become friends, Darren Cole's her father, Warren and Heather's mother are getting back together, Casey and Sammy can meet again, Hudson and Grams get married, and oh so many more. I have to say, I absolutely loved this book, and it all turns out right in the end.
