The Melier Home World Women of Dor Nye Book 2 eBook Poppy Rhys
I decided to give the two books in this series a 3 star rating for its good, solid storytelling. From beginning to end I was absorbed in an out of space adventure that kept me entertained. Poppy Rhys created interesting worlds and characters.
Unfortunately, what stopped me from giving the books 4 stars, was the fact that the Melier men she created, weren't appealing. Having four arms just grossed me out a bit and in my mind I kept thinking "caterpillar"...they had no nipples or belly buttons, no hair--completely bald men with no eyebrows...when she describes one of the men having thin lips and long thin fingers...these descriptions all turned me off.
I like my men aplha and hunky.
In sci fi stories I don't mind tails and scales, exotic eyes and any colored skin, even wings and double weeners (I've read a lot and it's out there!), I don't mind the melange relationship introduced in the second book (the feelings here were written very well, a nice romance budding between the lovers) but the descriptions of these men simply turned me off in the end, and kept me from getting emotionally involved with the romance evolving.
I read for the fantasy and need to have some kind of stimulating visual. Once the men in the story became unattractive in my mind, I just could not enjoy the romance and the sex scenes.
It's too darned bad...and what was one of the biggest turn-offs of all was the fluid ejaculated by these men. It is described as green slime(how is this attractive??) and it ejects forcefully in "copious" amounts so that both partners end up sitting in a small pond of it (actually, it also clings like green goo everywhere) every time they have sex--what a mess!--I was cringing at the oral sex scenes--yuck! Nothing sexy here.
Poppy Rhys is a good writer with a great imagination, but if this is supposed to be an erotic romance, she lost me. Ugly, hairless guys that remind me of beetles/lizards(four arms and hard scales on skin, claws and razor sharp teeth) with a touch of cat(furry tails, elongated pupils and purring) that ejaculate buckets of gooey green slime, is just not hot. There was no sensuality, no animal magnetism, nothing to draw me in and understand and be part of the attraction Lucia felt for these Melier men. Even though the men were really nice, endearing, funny as well as protective...I kept thinking "caterpillar"...
Good overall story but a huge yuck factor in the romance department.

The Melier Home World Women of Dor Nye Book 2 eBook Poppy Rhys Reviews
I really liked the first book and Poppy Rhys world-building and wit has only gotten better. If you hate aliens that are physically different and not just differently colored humanoids you probably won't like this story. If you can't bear the idea of group marriage, don't read the book. If you enjoy smart, sassy and brave women who can see the person inside an alien you will cheer for Lucia and her families. There are power struggles, assassination attempts, a blue purring baby and lots of love in this e-book. I love the humor, horror and angst which eventually overcomes blind prejudice. Even very smart individuals have blind spots which enables them to commit horrific acts and use their innate prejudice to justify their actions. Lucia, Soren, and the adorable Le' Ren use love and patience as well as some ass-kicking to make their universe a bit safer for everyone.
My sister recommend this to me and i am so thankful
Great storyline with fantastic characters. Strong female lead character. Adventure with romance and a sense of connection to the characters.
A great natural passed romance the buds and forms with some hidden interest.
Well written with a good story flow. Easy to follow and get pulled into. Will leave you reaching to buy the next one.
Recommend to anyone who like a great romance that makes all other romances looks like a bad screen play. Adult recommended.
Truly enjoyable...I am sooooo happy I did not pay attention to some of the reviews when I decided to purchase both of these books. I think some readers forget that if you are reading fiction to remember it is fiction and about aliens nonetheless...WOW already. With that said I truly enjoyed learning the ways of each character and being caught off guard by the actions of some of them. I do not like telling the story in my review but Lucia (Loo-sha) and Soren/Val'Ja stole my heart. I'm begging for the brothers Gi'Ren and Val'Koy to have their books as well if only just to give me more...I love the Melieruns...awesome story of struggles between worlds!!!!
SPOILERISH!!!
I loved the beginning of this book where Lucia escapes these baddies and saves Soren, who had been a slave. Their relationship was so sweet and kind with an attraction they didn't know what to do with. And then their first sex scene turned into a big hot mess and I could not think about anything being sexy about that. And the messes kept cumming (rim shot please). Then this book that started out about a sweet romance turned into an "erotic" book with the cherry on top of this messy pie being she ended up smelling like really stinky fish which evidently is a turn on where the blue men are from. And I mean a literal turn on with the gushing gallons of cum that people need to step over (Grandma).
So what did I do when I finished this book? I bought book two. I'm a glutton for cum, I guess.
Having read the first book in this series and thouroughly enjoying it, I was pleased to find the rest of Lucia, Soren and Zun's story to be just as entertaining! It is necessarya Hae to read the first book in order to understand the second. In this continuation of the tale, Soren and his brothers return to Melierun, their home planet, along with Lucia and their newborn baby girl. They knew it would be rough since the Melierun people saw humans as a disgusting, animalistic species. Much emotion and mayhem ensue. The real point of this story is a good one. That prejudice is a learned behavior, handed down from generation to generation, and is only destructive and uncivilized. The story does have a HEA, though I do hope the author will write stories for the other 2 Melierun brothers. I'd certainly read them!
